The Rose City Premodern Tournament of Champions
The Tournament of Champions is a year-long qualifier event leading up to Portland’s biggest charity tournament. Players can qualify for the Tournament of Champions by competing in paper Premodern events anywhere in the world, and can secure their chance to compete with a first place finish.
Win any conventional Premodern event with 9+ players listed on TCDecks or mtgtop8 in the 2026 year to gain entry. The event must be played in paper, and results must be posted online.
Rose City Premodern reserves the right to extend invitations to non-conventional Premodern tournaments, including our Team Trios tournament and our Necropotence tournament. If you are running an event that can’t be uploaded to TCDecks or mtgtop8 (such as a team event or a changed ban list event), please contact a member of Rose City Premodern and ask if your event qualifies for the Tournament of Champions
The Event
The Tournament of Champions will be hosted in Portland, Oregon in January 2027. Players have the entire 2026 year to qualify and gain entry. The event will be Swiss rounds + cut to top 8 based on attendance. The winner of the event will choose a charitable organization to receive funds from the Tournament of Champions.
Rose City Premodern will continue to uphold the community driven approach to Premodern. Gold-border and proxy cards are allowed for the Tournament of Champions.
The winner will have their name, winning year, and the name of their deck engraved upon a custom trophy. This trophy will return with them for the next Tournament of Champions for the next winner to leave their mark.
